Lagniappe Law Lab ("LLL”, “we”, or “our”) is a nonprofit legal aid technology consultancy funded by the Louisiana Bar Foundation “LBF” in the Greater New Orleans Area.
These Terms of Use describes the acceptable uses and disclaimers for louisianalegalnavigator.org and apps.louisianalegalnavigator.org (“Websites”) and the guided interviews available on our Websites.
You must be over the age of 13 to use our Websites and guided interviews (collectively, “Services”). By using our Websites and guided interviews, you accept and agree to these Terms of Use.
LLL's Websites and guided interviews are provided as a free service for those wishing to better understand their legal rights and responsibilities in Louisiana, and find appropriate legal resources and referrals. We anticipate our primary users to be self-represented litigants and attorneys or trusted-intermediaries who may be assisting self-represented litigants.
Examples of unacceptable uses of our Services are listed below:
Commercial use. Use of our Websites and guided interviews for fee is not allowed. You may not resell access to our Services. You may not duplicate these Services for use in Louisiana. You may not duplicate these Services to sell access for a fee.
Unauthorized practice of law. Do not use our Websites and guided interviews to conduct in the unauthorized practice of law or to assist anyone else in the unauthorized practice of law.
Excessive use and abuse. Excessive use, abuse, or any use that interferes others’ use of our Services is not allowed.
We do our best to maintain our Website and guided interviews and to keep them up to date. However, please use your best judgement when using our Services.

Changes to the law. Changes to the law or court or local variations may make any content accessed by our Websites and guided interviews unenforceable.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless LLL and the Louisiana Bar Foundation for all claims arising out of your use and reliance on our Websites and guided interviews.
LLL may modify these Terms of Use at any time with or without notice. You are responsible for checking these Terms of Use periodically to inform yourself of any changes. Your continued use of our Websites and guided interviews after the changes have been made will constitute your acceptance of the changes.
These Terms of Use are governed by the laws of the State of Louisiana.
If any term set out in these Terms of Use is held to be invalid, unenforceable or illegal for any reason, the remaining terms will continue in full force.

Research. LLL may use anonymized information for research to understand how to better provide legal services to the citizens of Louisiana. Anonymized information may be shared with academic researchers and community partners to help with this goal. Anonymized information does not include any information that can identify you from other users.

We disclose your information when disclosure is: (1) reasonably necessary to comply with any applicable law, regulation, subpoena, legal process, or enforceable governmental request; (2) necessary to enforce this Policy; (3) required to enforce our contractual obligations, including investigation of potential violations; or (4) necessary to protect against harm to the rights, property, or safety of LLL, you, or the public as required or permitted by law.
Sale of Information. LLL does not sell your information to third parties.
